So it’s come to pass that the people have started to stir in a real way since the hippie/yippie movements of the 70′s against general establishment, corporate greed and the lack of the ability for all to pursue the so-called American Dream.

I’m sure it’s of no surprise to anyone outside of our little United biosphere that finally people are saying something. With consecutive and co-current wars being fought, it’s easy for the American public at large to look around and ask, “what the cuss?”.  We see our homes be re-possessed, our jobs shipped overseas and our quality of life slowly diminishing with no prospects for retirement.

It’s not the torrent it needs to become yet and I’m not even sure that’s the smartest way to go about change. Popular opinion has not yet fully caught up to the protesters, but the tide is shifting. We do not live in our parents’ America, we live in an America ruled by foreign interests. Stop shipping jobs overseas? Yeah right.  Try ceasing trade with China and you’ll have a completely destabilized situation with a likely outcome of war. We’re in a total rock and hard place as a group of people. We’ve handed over all of our rights through the Patriot Act and our fear of faceless Islamic terrorists.  The motto of “In God We Trust” has been replaced by “Through Oil We Strive” and monetary gain has trumped hard work and the payoffs which should accompany it.

The system is bent and the people want it straightened out, but it’ll take more than a few dancing neo-hippies and a pair of drums. It’ll take education, assimilation and determination.   It’ll require intelligence in order to rise to the positions which can nurture change. This isn’t the Middle East and regardless of the seeming success of the Arab Spring, we’re nowhere close to where those people are on the other side of the globe. Count your blessings, be pro-active and lead through example. Christ didn’t throw bottles, he loved unconditionally and spread his word, we can do the same.

I pray for those trying to show the rest of the world that America isn’t full of meek people willing to go with the status quo, that we’re part of a global community wishing for a better planet overall for our children, our loved ones, hell, for ourselves!

May we all be able to enjoy the fruits of such labor rather than just be the martyrs who helped spawn the change.

God Bless.
